Before starting ahead, Ramadan Mubarak to everyone out there!
Being a predominantly Muslim country, through out the history, Ramadan has been renowned as an exceptional period for all Maldivians. Whether it is Government or Private, all businesses and organizations reduce their working hours for the ease of the entire community. With the change of the meal times, everything changes here together with it. Thus, preplanning for Ramadan is common in all areas of life in Maldives. We, being dedicated Limopalmians planned our entire Ramadan in such a way that none of our work hours or projects would be effected.
Being occupied with multiple projects through out Ramadan and the following months, we could not take any breaks or work less. However, work hours were changed compared to other months primarily because of the change of meal times. We decided to allocate the best times that we could work together productively as work hours.
Prior to the arrival of Ramadan, we thought of contributing something to the entire Muslim Community with our skills and expertise. We set ourselves in brainstorming sessions, on what we could give to all Muslims out there on the blessed month, which constitutes majority of the Maldivian population and a huge percentage globally. Undoubtedly a mobile application was of the best choice as we are still quite new to the industry and it would be of a great experience.
During the brainstorming sessions we discussed about providing a solution, which could be effective to a large community. In order to provide a solution we started examining the problems to which we could provide a solution from our spheres & also whether any efficient or effective solution is already available. Problems mainly were listed from our own personal experiences.
Thus out of all the problems we discussed, holding the count of Dhikr (Remembrance of God) & a list of Dhikrs was something that we wished for. Researching on available solutions, we could not find an efficient mobile application, which could perform both. And there, it was our solution; ”to provide a user friendly, interactive interface where users can browse through various dhikr attributes and hold the count of them too”
We went ahead with the information architecture of the application, on how it would perform, how it would interact and how we could make it of the best use for the users. Upon completion of the wireframes, planning & designs we proceeded on to development. Development was complete without much hassle and the application was installed on each of our phones for testing.
After fixing a few bugs that we found & fine tuning, here we have the Dhikr Application, all ready for you with Names of Allah, Daily Dhikr & also Ramadan Prayer Times for Maldives.
With the Dhikr App you will be able to browse through various attributes of Dhikr which includes Daily Dhikr and Names of Allah. Once you click an attribute after choosing a main category, you will be able to view the detail of the attribute and a button on which you could tap to perform the count. The count will be stored unless reset, thus allowing you to hold the count even during breaks.
P.S: The application is currently available only for Android devices only. However we are on the process of making it available for iOs Devices too. Since this is our first release with limited features, your reviews, criticism and suggestions for future enhancements are most welcome. We are looking forward to build up more features of the application based on your reviews and feedback.
